At some point the ownership will realize they are losing millions upon millions of dollars in equity in the team. Maybe it will be increasing numbers of empty seats. Maybe it will be the TVs turned off. Maybe it will be the refusal of players to move to Buffalo. Maybe it will be a complete absence of reporters at a presser. Maybe it will be the owner's own family members mocking him openly.

But whatever else happens, the stubborn, foolish, ignorant, arrogant insistence that Darcy Regier knows anything about hockey personnel and can shape a championship team is going to be the root cause of the demise of this franchise for a long, long, long time. Lindy Ruff must be laughing out loud to himself all the time now.

These really are sad times in Hockey Heaven.
